c1918-20. George (Archie) Boaks with Auntie Emeney and Uncle Bibby who raised him as his parents were not married when he was born. They are his mum’s sister Ellen (Nell) Mary BOAKS and William Henry (Bibby) EMENEY who were married in 1896, before George was born. Hence he was baptised with the surname of his mother and aunt, BOAKS rather than MUMFORD from his father.

First born Ron and his wife Doris Eileen ROWSELL, with their children Alan and Barry in October 1951. The family moved to Australia a few years later.

The story repeats itself – Ron was born in 1919 just before his parents were married and therefore given his mother’s surname KING rather than BOAKS. He was raised by his mum’s married sister Gladys. At the age of around 10 he was asked if he would like to have the whole situation rectified but he refused.
