YOUR FINAL REPORT

Word HelpsheetUsing a word processor, write a full report to the Headteacher who may then be sending it to some of the primary schools. Remember to type a rough draft first, without any font, style or other changes to the way it looks.

Don't forget to put a title, the date, your name and your tutor group before you start

Introduction

(i) State the task that you have been given and its purpose.

(ii) Give the names of the programs that you used to process the data and to write your report; and give reasons for choosing these programs to do each job that you used them for.

Method

Under the following sub-headings, give a brief account of how the survey was carried out.

Collection of data - describe how the data was collected from the pupils.

Input of data - describe with reasons how you structured the database and entered the data.

Processing - describe briefly the main tasks that you asked the computer to do for you.

Output of information - what information did you obtain from the database for this survey?

Permanent storage - state the two ways in which you stored your work safely between lessons.

Illustrate your work by returning to your database, copy a chart, then return to your report and paste it into an appropriate place in your text.

Conclusion

When drawing further conclusions, you must fully justify your arguments using the survey results to back up your statements. Possible conclusions may arise from the following questions (also think up some of your own):

  1. State the main conclusions from the survey - look for the most/least common responses in each block of questions.
  2. Which junior school in your opinion gives the strongest IT experience to its pupils? Is it possible to comment on this using the results from this survey?
  3. Do you think that the pupils in this survey are presently making full use of their computers at home? Suggest possible reasons for your answer and consider what might be done to improve the situation further.

Evaluation

When writing this report, what considerations have you made to match the expected level of understanding, reading ability or interest of the expected audience? Can you suggest any improvements on the way you have carried out this work?
